Aryabhatta, the Indian mathematician

!±8± Aryabhatta, the Indian mathematician

Aryabhatta (476-550 AD) was born in Patliputra in Magadha, modern Patna in Bihar. Many believe that in the south of Kerala, India, especially if he was born and lived in Magadha at the time of the Gupta rulers; time, known as the golden age of India. There is no evidence that he was born outside and traveled to Magadha Patliputra, the center of education and training for his studies, which also has a coaching center. The name "Arya" is hardly an Indian name of the Southwhile "Bhatt" (or Bhatta) is a name typical of northern India, even today, especially in the "bania" (or trader) community.

Whatever the origin, can not claim that he lived in Patliputra, where he survived his famous treatise the "Aryabhatta-Siddhanta", but known to be the "Aryabhatiya", the only work, his writing. It contains mathematical and astronomical theories that have been found to be quite accurate in modern mathematics. For example, he wrote that, when added 400-100and is then multiplied by 8 then added to 62,000 then divided by 20,000, the answer is equal to the circumference of a circle with a diameter of 20,000. This calculates to 3.1416 close to the actual value Pi (3.14159). But his greatest contribution is zero. His other works include algebra, arithmetic, trigonometry, quadratic equations and the sine table.

He already knew that the Earth rotates on its axis, the Earth moves around the sun and the moon revolves around the earth. Talkon the position of the planets in relation to its motion around the sun. Refers to the light of the planets and the moon as a reflection of the sun. He even goes so far that the eclipse of the moon and sun, day and night, the contours of the land, the length of the 'year only 365 days to explain how.

He also has the circumference of the earth as 24835 miles, close to the calculated current calculation 24900 miles.

This extraordinary man was a genius and continues to bafflemany mathematicians of today. His works were later adopted by the Greeks and then the Arabs.
